In order to promote the development of bone rapid DNA analysis technology in China, simplify the extraction procedure of old bone DNA, shorten the extraction time, improve the rate of DNA acquisition, reduce the work intensity of front-line police in criminal technology, and jointly promote the innovation and development of Criminal Science in China, a Rapid DNA Analysis of Bone Samples Workshop, which was sponsored by The Chinese Police Network was held in Xiamen City, Fujian Province between December 12th-14th. More than 300 government officials, experts, scholars and representatives from the public security system in nationwide attended the Workshop.
The Workshop specially invited Dr. Richard Selden, Chief Scientist of ANDE Corporation (ANDE), and Mr. John Johnson, Applied Scientist of ANDE Corporation. They demonstrated and interpreted professionally the most advanced bone DNA rapid analysis technology through examples, and answered professional questions about specific data analysis and core technology of detection. This Workshop helps to promote internationalization, high-end and professionalism of rapid DNA development in China.
At the seminar, many domestic forensic experts also analyzed the current situation of bone DNA analysis in China from different perspectives, as well as the current situation of domestic detection equipment, and proposed that China’s DNA detection equipment should move towards more convenient operation and more accurate analysis. Professor Yan from Shanxi Medical University Forensic lab in Taiyuan presented his successful finding using ANDE instrument 6C in various bone processing projects and specifically presented his successful result of a 35 years old bone processing using ANDE Instrument 6C. Many other bureau police presented their successful findings including the Gansu Police Bureau. ANDE and GAC (ANDE’s China distribution reseller) brought and demonstrated the ANDE 6C instrument at the conference. Eric Fang, President of ANDE China, stated that this “disruptive technology” simplifies the procedures for analyzing DNA and especially for bone DNA samples, improved the detection speed, and is easy to operate. Nonprofessionals can operate after simple training, greatly reduces the difficulty of work and improves the work efficiency and most important, the mobility. The simple operation method and various application modes demonstrated by ANDE 6C rapid DNA analysis system were highly praised by the participants.
